Terms of Service

1. Description of Service

KnightVision is a chess companion app that provides scoresheet scanning, real-time chessboard recognition via computer vision, chess engine analysis, puzzle training, game import from Chess.com and Lichess, and game storage. The Service is available on iOS and the web.

2. Account Registration

To use certain features of the Service, you must create an account. You agree to:

• Be at least 13 years of age to create an account.
• Provide accurate and complete information during registration.
• Maintain the security of your account credentials.
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.
• Maintain only one account per person.

You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

3. Subscriptions & Billing

KnightVision offers a free tier (Pawn) and paid subscription tiers (Knight and King) with additional features and higher usage limits.

• Paid subscriptions are available as monthly or yearly plans.
• Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled before the end of the current billing period.
• iOS: Subscriptions are billed through your Apple ID. To cancel, manage your subscription in your device's Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions.
• Web: Subscriptions are billed through Stripe. You can manage your subscription from the app's settings page.
• Refunds are handled by Apple (for App Store purchases) and Stripe (for web purchases) in accordance with their respective refund policies.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service.
• Use automated tools to scrape, crawl, or extract data from the Service.
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure.
• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' accounts or data.
• Resell, redistribute, or sublicense the Service without our written consent.

5. Intellectual Property

The KnightVision app, website, branding, and all associated software are the intellectual property of KnightVision. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of the Service without our written permission.

You retain ownership of your game data, saved positions, and any content you create within the Service. By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to store and process your content solely to provide the Service to you.

6. Third-Party Services

The Service integrates with third-party platforms including Chess.com, Lichess, and USCF. Your use of these integrations is subject to the respective terms and privacy policies of those platforms. We are not responsible for the availability or accuracy of third-party data.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, KnightVision and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service.

9. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users, us, or third parties.

You may delete your account at any time through the app's settings. Upon deletion, all associated data will be permanently removed from our systems.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these Terms from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes through the app or via email. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
